Ceramics, Glass, & Stone
My father grew up in the city of Delft famous for its white and blue pottery. He told me of how my grandmother would go to one of the local potteries each year to buy a piece that would commemorate that year. Most of those pieces were sold to help fund their new life in Canada. The remaining pieces are cherished, even those that have been glued back together after some mishap. Many cultures have their own distinct pottery that evokes home for the immigrant transplanted in a new country. The art of glass blowing has created many meaningful cultural pieces as well. However, I continue to be drawn to humble antique bottles. I wonder where they have been. What have they held? What stories could they tell? We are always watching for special pieces to offer here at The Pantry. Come and visit to see our current collection.
